Dog Friendly Colorado Springs, Colorado

Our time in Colorado Springs, Colorado was split between hiking & breweries and snow & sun with many dog friendly options. The city really gives you a lot to explore with your dogs!

Pikes Peak / Devil’s Playground

This mountain offers a unique and easy way to get views from 14,000 feet. Normally you can drive up to the summit but it was closed in late May when we visited. We could drive as far as 13,000 where we parked at Devil’s Playground. The area offered two easier short hikes with one to a rock formation for views opposite the summit and one up 500 feet for great views of the summit!

There was still snow in late May so the corgis enjoyed the cooler temps compared to the desert heat we had been in. We used their K9 Sport Sack carriers most of the hikes so they didn’t have to climb.

If you head up to view the summit (the side of the road with the Devil’s Playground sign) just be aware at the top there is a steep, steep drop off. We wanted to get the corgis out of their K9 Sport Sacks for a photo here but we didn’t feel comfortable.

Lastly, the drive up and down is very windy with minimal guardrails and steep inclines and declines. If you are uncomfortable with heights and narrow windy road driving, this road is not for you. About halfway down there was a mandatory brake temperature check where they had cars pull over if their brakes were over 300 degrees. The nice lady checking brakes also had dog treats!

Garden of the Gods

Garden of the Gods is great spot that is free to enter and is entirely dog friendly! There are many different trails and rock formations pups can enjoy making this a great stop for some long or short hikes and great photos! They have a giant dog park and a cafe at the visitor’s center that allows dogs on the patio. We’d highly recommend a stop here as the views are amazing and you can’t beat a dog friendly park!

Colorado Springs Dog Friendly Breweries

For the Colorado Springs brewery scene we stopped at quite a few great, unique spots. Most (if not all) breweries have dog friendly patios while a handful also allowing dogs inside – yay!

We made sure to visit Lost Friend Brewing Company which allows dogs on the patio and inside. They do not have a kitchen but they often food trucks. Their name is a unique story as the owner has an uncanny ability to reunite lost pets with their owners (aka Lost Friend) – how cool is that?!

Goat Patch Brewing Company has a small patio in front and a large beer garden. If the tables in front look full don’t forget to check out back. A food truck was available when we stopped by.

Brass Brewing Co. was a unique find which also allows dogs inside and of course on their patio. It is veteran owned and operated and we had a great time relaxing and listening to live music!

Another great brewery spot that allows dogs inside and on the patio is Deuces Wild Brewing Company (at least at their Peterson Rd. location did). This is another veteran owned and operated brewery that had great beer and gave us a perfect indoor spot for a rainy day.

Local Relic had a simple outdoor area with a handful of chairs and some barrel tables. I thought we saw a dog come out of the indoor space but we assumed because they are a restaurant that dogs were not allowed inside? May be worth asking if you check it out.

Manitou Springs

Just outside of Colorado Springs is the cute, small town of Manitou Springs where we snagged a patio table at Manitou Brewing Company. Dogs are only allowed on the patio here but they had a fantastic food menu which made for a great lunch stop while checking out all the local shops.

Dine Indoors With Your Dog!

We had dinner at Pub Dog which allows dogs to dine indoors and has a large patio with additional dog park. The menu selection is smaller but we were pleasantly surprised with the food. Local craft beer is available and they even have a small dog menu! The corgis had the rice and sweet potato with beef patty and were very confused to be fed inside a restaurant. 🙂 It was chilly and rainy so we had the dog park to ourselves to do some quick zoomies.
