Dog Friendly Grand Junction, Colorado

Dog Friendly Grand Junction, Colorado

Grand Junction, Colorado offers hiking, breweries and a scenic drive where your furry friend can join you. The main attraction is the Colorado National Monument and while dogs are not allowed on any trails, the scenic drive is a great option!

You can drive the 21 mile Rim Rock Drive and stop at the multitude of overlooks. Our favorite overlook was Coke Ovens which has a small parking space and no steep drop off right next to the road like some overlooks have.

While dogs are not allowed on the hiking trails, they can join you in the parking lots and road areas.

Mica Mine Trail in Bangs Canyon

For a dog friendly hiking option we did the Mica Mine trail in Bangs Canyon (out and back 2.6 miles total). While this trail is dog friendly, there is no shade so plan accordingly. The start of the trail also requires going down a few bigger rocks and steps if that is an issue for you our your dog.

When we visited in May we did this hike at 4pm and it was about 82 and sunny. Our hitched a ride for part of the hike in their K9 Sport Sacks just because it was a bit hotter than they are used to.

Dog Friendly Breweries in Grand Junction, Colorado

Another great dog friendly option while visiting Grand Junction, Colorado is to explore the brewery scene. Our favorite brewery was Monumental Beer Works which is dog friendly on their very large patio. They even sell dog bandanas!
Additionally, we stopped at Ramblebine Brewing Company where the corgis were welcomed on the dog friendly patio. Both had food truck options too – Monumental had rotating trucks & Ramblebine has a permanent truck on site.
