We write about places we’ve actually been, tours we’ve actually taken, and gear we’ve actually hauled through an airport — usually with a corgi somewhere in the frame. Some of the links in those posts are affiliate links, and this page explains exactly what that means.
The short version
If you click an affiliate link on this site and go on to book or buy something, we may earn a small commission. It costs you nothing extra. The price you pay is identical whether you use our link or go direct.

Who we partner with
We participate in the following affiliate programs:
Amazon Associates. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. This covers the travel gear, camera equipment, and dog supplies we link to.
Viator. Tours, day trips, and experiences.
GetYourGuide. Tours, tickets, and activities.
Travelpayouts. A travel affiliate network rather than a single company. It connects us with a range of booking partners — flights, hotels, car rental, and travel insurance among them — so a link to one of those services may be tracked through Travelpayouts rather than by the company directly.
We may join other programs over time, and we’ll update this page when we do.
How we decide what to recommend
Commission never decides what goes into a post.
We recommend a hotel, tour, or piece of gear because we used it and would tell a friend about it. When something disappoints us, we say so — including when the disappointing thing would have paid us. Plenty of the links on this site earn us nothing at all, because sometimes the best answer for a reader is a national park website or a small local operator with no affiliate program.
If we ever receive a free stay, a complimentary tour, or a product sent to us for review, we’ll say so plainly in that post. To date, we pay our own way for the overwhelming majority of what we write about.
What this costs you
Nothing. Affiliate commissions come out of the retailer’s margin, not your pocket. Booking through our links is simply a way to support the blog at no cost to yourself — genuinely optional, and never expected.
If you’d rather not use an affiliate link, going directly to the retailer’s site works exactly the same for you.
Prices, availability, and third-party sites
Prices, availability, and tour details change constantly, and we can’t keep every post current with every operator. Always confirm the details on the retailer’s own site before booking. Once you follow a link away from Templeton Travels, you’re subject to that company’s terms and privacy practices, not ours, and we aren’t responsible for their content, service, or the experience they deliver.
Cookies and your data
When you click an affiliate link, the retailer or affiliate network sets a cookie so that a resulting booking can be credited to us. These cookies typically last between 24 hours and 30 days depending on the program.
We don’t receive your name, address, contact details, or payment information — only notification that a sale occurred and what commission it earned. Our Privacy Policy explains this in full, including how to block affiliate cookies in your browser if you’d prefer.
