Dog-Friendly Banff, Canada

Dog-Friendly Banff, Canada

Welcome to Banff, Canada’s picturesque town nestled in the heart of the breathtaking Canadian Rockies. Renowned for its stunning landscapes and outdoor activities, Banff is not only a haven for nature enthusiasts but also a dream come true for dog owners. With its pet-friendly policies and a wide array of dog-friendly establishments, Banff ensures that your furry friend can join you on an unforgettable adventure. Let’s dive into the dog-friendly options that Banff has to offer!

Banff’s Dog-Friendly Main Drag

Much of the action in Banff is focused around the busy Banff Avenue. In the summer the street is closed to traffic (except buses) and all establishments extend their patios into the street. The best part is that these patios are almost all dog friendly providing abundant options to explore. While heading to your next stop along the street make sure to check out the unique shops along the way. Many of these shops allow your pups inside the stores and even provide treats and water. We really enjoyed walking up and down Banff Ave. taking in the sights and getting plenty of pets along the way!

Pawsome Parks and Trails

Banff National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, boasts an abundance of trails and parks where you and your canine companion can explore the natural wonders together. Yes, you heard that right! Unlike most National Parks in the USA, almost ALL trails in Banff are dog friendly! Take a leisurely stroll along the scenic Bow River Trail or embark on an invigorating hike along the Tunnel Mountain Trail. Remember to keep your furry friend on a leash and respect any park regulations to ensure a harmonious experience for everyone.

Barking Good Breweries & Bars

Banff is not just a paradise for nature lovers; it’s also a great spot for craft beer enthusiasts. Luckily, many breweries in town are dog-friendly, welcoming both two-legged and four-legged visitors. We loved Banff Ave Brewing Co. where you can grab a pint of their locally brewed beer on their dog-friendly patio. Another paw-some option is Park Distillery Restaurant and Bar, where you can enjoy handcrafted spirits and great food while your furry friend relaxes at your side. Just a block off the main drag of Banff Ave. we enjoyed a stop at Three Bears Brewery who welcomed our dogs with open arms providing unique outdoor tables.

Wag-Worthy Accommodations

When it comes to dog-friendly accommodations, Banff has you covered. Numerous hotels and lodges welcome pets, providing a comfortable stay for both you and your furry companion. The Fairmont Banff Springs offers pet-friendly rooms, and they even provide dog beds and bowls to ensure your pet feels right at home. Other options, such as the Banff Rocky Mountain Resort, provide spacious suites and easy access to nearby dog-friendly trails for your convenience. If you’re looking to stay closer to the famous glacier lakes of Banff National Park, we stayed at Lake Louise Inn which was very accommodating of our dogs and even gave us a dog goodie bag!

Tasty Treats for Pooches

Don’t forget to pamper your furry friend with some tasty treats! The Banff Dog House, located on Bear Street, offers a wide range of pet-friendly treats and supplies. From gourmet dog biscuits to durable toys, you’ll find everything you need to keep your pup’s tail wagging with joy. As a bonus, they sell K9 Sports Sacks if you’re looking to give your dog a boost up the mountains – check out our sizing guide and review here.

Doggie Day Out

If you’re planning a day trip without your canine companion, Banff offers excellent doggie daycare services to ensure your pet is well taken care of. Facilities like Bow Valley Dog Ranch provide supervised playtime, walks, and cuddles for your furry friend. After drop off, head out to explore attractions like the Banff Gondola or the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity.

Banff, Canada’s dog-friendly paradise offers many opportunities for you and your furry friend to embark on unforgettable adventures together. From scenic trails and breathtaking parks to dog-friendly breweries and accommodations, Banff is the place to be.
